Susan Tinker (1944-)

Susan Tinker is addicted to the natural world, both in the studio and everyday life. While tending her six gardens on the far edge of Kansas City, a microcosm began to emerge. Birds fed on coneflowers, caterpillars munched tomatoes, beetles nibbled vegetables and butterflies pollinated everything. Since 2001, these creatures have inhabited her paintings. Susan received her Bachelor of Fine Art degree and graduated with distinction as top student in Design from the University of Kansas in 1966. She was an artist with Hallmark Cards before devoting herself full time to her studio work. Her paintings have been included in several museum exhibitions and she currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Susan is married to William Tinker, also an artist.
