William ''Bill'' Tinker grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. Across the street from his boyhood home lay four sections of prairie land where he and his friends ran in the waist deep prairie grass, played games and experienced the dramas of childhood. Those days would provide inspiration for his paintings, but he prefers to represent the land as it is today; the cultivator's geometric patterns, the contrasts of crops and meadows, the expenses and elusive skies, and the Midwest light. Bill earned his Bachelor of Art degree at the University of Arkansas. He careered at Hallmark Cards, retiring in 1994 as Vice President of Creative Services. Since that time, he has devoted his time to painting for galleries and juried exhibitions. He is married to Susan Tinker, also an artist.
